Alejandra came to the United States because her mother wanted to bring her and her brother.
When she crossed she was only 6 years old. Her mom and her dad inspired to come because her parents would talk about how she would go to a better school and that she could see what the United States looked like. She also wanted to come to the United States so she could get to spend more time with her dad.

The journey was long, dangerous, and uncomfortable. She came on foot, car, and then a bus. A coyote helped her cross the border. Her mother also helped her cross the border by taking care of her and by protecting her. While in the desert, Alejandra felt terrible because she was worried about getting separated from her family. When she crossed the border she was hot and bored. She felt nervous once she arrived, because it was her first day in the United States.

It was not easy for her family to find a job because they did not know how to talk in English. She also missed half of her family that was in Mexico. However, she felt so happy because she had so many new friends in the United States at her new school.
